Our Mission
About Mila's Home
Mila's Home Rescue & Rehab is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of veterans living with PTSD through the healing power of expertly trained rescue dogs. We believe every veteran deserves a path forward—and sometimes that path walks on four legs. Every rescue dog deserves a purpose, and we match them with the veterans who need them most.
What We Do
We carefully select, train, and place rescue dogs with veterans who are struggling with PTSD at NO COST to the veteran. Our program is built on understanding both the animal and the person—creating matches that bring real, lasting healing.
Every dog in our program comes from rescue. We identify dogs with incredible potential, provide professional training, and match them with the veterans who need them most. It's mutual healing - both get a second chance.
Each dog undergoes extensive behavioral and task training customized for PTSD support, while each veteran receives education and hands-on coaching to ensure a successful partnership. We don't just place a dog—we create a lifelong bond.
Every veteran receives their PTSD service dog completely free, along with ongoing training support for the life of the dog.
No hidden costs. No fees. Just healing.
Our Beginning
Mila's Home was born from two family legacies: five generations of military service and a lifetime surrounded by dogs who heal.
Lucy grew up witnessing both. Her family's service to our country runs deep—from her great-great-grandfather through her son enlisting today. And throughout it all, her family's dogs taught her something powerful: unconditional presence can transform lives.
That combination—a family legacy of sacrifice and a deep understanding of how dogs heal—led Lucy to become a professional dog trainer. And it made the next step inevitable: Mila's Home is her way of saying thank you—pairing veterans who have given everything with rescue dogs who have the healing power of unconditional love.

Why We Exist
Too many veterans suffer alone. PTSD doesn't just affect the mind—it isolates and it disconnects.
Service dogs change that. They're partners and pathways back to living a full life.
Our Commitment
Every placement is sacred to us. We invest time, resources, and heart into making sure each veteran gets the right dog and the ongoing support they need. We measure success not in numbers, but in changed lives and restored hope.
